The Electric Camper of the Future

NAU Ecco Camper conceptDesign firm NAU has presented a concept for an Eco-friendly camper that is out of this world, yet totally practical.

Designed to be similar in size to a VW Camper, this vehicle provides a unique way of taking creature comforts to the great out doors. If there is no charging station nearby for the EV’s batteries, the solar panels on the roof can pick up the slack.

The front wheels are integrated totally into the vehicle’s shape and form the pivot point for the body to open and fold open the back to provide living space. Steering is provided by a combination of single steerable rear wheel and independently variable speed in the front drive wheels.

We think this design could go further than the idea of a camper. The space, flexibility and zero emissions aspects of the vehicle show promise for urban and business transport environments. Green, ultra-modern food truck anyone?
